I was able to create a classic satellite map in HD! This version is better than Firefly's (Jessica Natalia).
I took the original image which was 6000х6000 resolution, and zoomed it into the software Topaz Gigapixel AI. Since 6144 points were needed, the increase was only 0,025%. Therefore, the quality remained the same as the original!
Ready-made txd is a little bugged when you open them in the MagicTXD, but for modloader work perfectly.
Authors: original map: Ian Albert, first convert: BaygoN, current HD: xzbt_jz.

When use Gigapixel, try to upscale the same image via different AI Modes, and then compare results with each other.
My favorite one is Art & CG (it's in Gigapixel v5.5.0 - available on rutracker for educational purposes). When i upscaled GTA SA textures on my own, Art & CG results were much more precise than Standard ones (not to mention other Modes).
Если юзаешь Гигапиксель, то попробуй заапскейлить одно и то же изображение через разные AI Mode. А затем глянь результаты, где какой лучше.
Мой любимый - Art & CG (есть в 5.5.0 версии Гигапикселя - лежит на рутрекере для ознакомительных целей). Я сам через него прогонял САновские текстуры, и результат был гораздо чётче, нежели через Standart (не говоря уж о других AI Modes).

Do you know what "context" is?) I mean not "in principle," but in the context of the HD maps, that are used today. Which means: we don't need so many pixels - 45,000. Where will you use them?
Even for the near future, such a method of increase will be better. Colors better, details.
