MiG-21bis: SFR Jugoslavija - Socijalistička Federativna Republika Jugoslavija | Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia [Replace | HQ]

MIG-21bis (designation L-17) was the most modern variant of the MiG-21 fighter that the Air Force and Air Defense of the SFRY acquired in the early 1980s, and they formed the backbone of fighter aviation.

Yugoslavia was one of the biggest MiG-21 users in Europe. In addition to the earlier versions (F-13, PFM, M, MF), the Bis version was purchased in large numbers to replace older fighters. The Bis version was distinguished by a stronger engine, better electronics and a larger fuel capacity.
