Descrizione

This simple texture-swap mod replaces the FlyUS badges on Airtug and Ripley with HVY badges, since that's the manufacturer of those vehicles according to the police radio in GTA IV and GTA V.

I've always found it odd that the airport vehicles at FIA and LSIA are signified by one airline company. In real life, they more often have manufacturer's logo.

Install:

0. Backup your original files, I recommend to copy your entire vanilla "vehicles.img" if you're a frequent vehicle modder!

1. Using OpenIV or SparkIV, open the GTA IV > pc > models > cdimages > vehicles.img

2. Find files "airtug.wtd" and "ripley.wtd", replace the "airtug_badges" using a file from corresponding vehicle folder provided.

===Technical Info===

Only the airtug_badges texture has been modified, nothing else. Unlike other badges textures, this one don't have any normal maps; however that might be even better, as according to pictures online, such airport equipment has its manufacturers' logos simply painted instead of embossed.

One airtug_badges was done for Airtug, one airtug_badges was done for Ripley, since both models use slightly different mapping. I've positioned the textures as big as possible to not go out of the mapped location on the 3D model. The HVY logo texture has been taken from Forklift's forklift_badges.

GIMP has been used to edit the textures. I am providing two graphic files:

  • .dds file, which is a default OpenIV format, the texture file has simply been overwritten using default GIMP's settings, hence the texture file size and lack of mipmaps. I highly suggest using OpenIV's function to generate mipmaps and change pixel format.
  • .png file, which was exported using GIMP with its default settings, with every box unchecked except "Save background color" and "Save resolution".

I'm not a professional nor experienced modder; however I am open to any advice and constructive criticism!

Since the vanilla Airtug and Ripley in GTA V share the same texture mapping, this mod can also be used for GTA V!
