@DK 240SX You can check the INI file for available in-game character models, including special ones. If the character is cutscene-only, then changing to it would not work.

@undefined My pleasure! Thank YOU very much as well for taking the time to create and share this awesome mod with us! Yeah I'm going to revisit the mod's INI file again when I have the time to see if I can edit the key bindings because I think I was doing it completely wrong at the time when I made my first comment on this post about a month ago and I just now looked into the INI file again and I think I have a bit of a better understanding of it. Changing the Girlfriend Ped model is a no-brainer but I think I figured out how to edit the key bindings for the commands for the mod. Oh man! I can't wait to see the upcoming new features that you have cooking up for this mod! Because this mod as it is right now is awesome! I think it's very cool how you can command the Girlfriend to go into either attack mode and be on the offensive or have her be on defense and take the position of being more of a bodyguard and she will only react when you are under fire from enemies which I think that feature right there in itself is a VERY clever and awesome programming design on your part!

There's an INI file in the mod that you can edit the bindings with, in case you're out of keys.

@Stroggfiedhuman if you have some program that looks into the ped models like TXD Workshop, you can use it to change the girlfriend model. The model list seems like a good idea, although it can wait in the next release.

Nevermind! Disregard my previous comment. I figured it out and found a workaround from an idea I came up with. All I did was just switch to my old keyboard (that has a number pad) and activate the mod via the number pad 0 key and simply just switch back to my current new keyboard and this mod works like a charm! This mod is absolutely awesome! I would honestly say this is one of the top best mods out there I have ever seen and experienced for GTA 3 and Vice City. Phenomenal work! And hats off to you and huge props to you for creating this! I love the companionship/protector aspect from the GF and she just goes around mowing down your enemies with you lol. And she is very crack shot accurate as well! This mod alone just added even more replayability to this game hahaha!

What if there's people like me who don't have a number pad on the keyboard? Because in order to summon the Girlfriend, you need to press the number pad 0 key which is what I unfortunately don't have. Is there any alternative or any way for me to edit or change the number pad 0 hotkey to something else in order to activate this mod?

@emo_robber The mod only recognizes the model names for pedestrians as well as special characters--they must match exactly in the .ini file, and they should have a proper pedestrian model (i.e. they should have properly-defined rigged arms, legs, head, etc). The girlfriend spawns from behind of the player depending on where Claude is looking. The thumbnails are much recent, although not the latest version. It's when the special characters have been implemented.

@B7X The girlfriend uses weapons when getting two-star wanted levels and more. The mod is not intended to work with other helicopters like Catalina's.

Hey mate, I just tried it, it does not work, I pressed the num0, I was surprised it did not crash but however, the girlfriend did not spawn, I got confused, does she just appear or walk from behind? Do you recommend a new game save for this? My best guess is it's probably the new models in this mod I have, I'm not sure.

By the way, you did say non-ped characters crash the game, right? I'm curious about the thumbnail of the mod which has Claude and Maria, early build?

@emo_robber Thanks for the information. Based on the error, it seems like the game tries to manipulate something that does not exist yet (still has to pinpoint where exactly this occurs, so I will need a fresh GTA3 instance to install the mods you used). Either way, I've recently updated the mod; see if you still experience the crashes.

However, I must warn that not only does the mod guarantee working with other mods, but it might also hinder with the missions--this could be beyond my control as it will add a lot of edge cases that might not be applicable with the other games, and there's just a certain way these games behave internally.

Thanks for your thoughts on the mod. I'm planning on a few more features until I consider it complete, then it will contain bug fixes moving forward.

Otherwise, it has a selected ped model already, it uses one of the two prostitutes, not sure whether it's the white or black one but no matter, the mods I use are for the most part integral to the game if to be used in the way I do so I worry that it will disrupt its course if I do so (I'm no modding expert), and yes, I can wait, I must say it is a good mod concept, it utilizes a girlfriend not as a mere sexy figure, but a feature in the game, to heal (or have love) and protect one another, it's like if the girlfriends in GTA SA and IV actually did things instead of stand there and wait for you to take them somewhere etc. good one!

@emo_robber Does it provide like a memory address (i.e. series of alphanumeric characters) where the unhandled exception occurs? The whole text would help me pinpoint where it crashes exactly, appreciate if you could provide it.

However, there are other things you can do:
- Check if the model name is correct in the config file (it should match exactly the .dff/.txd files in the gta3.img archive, but without the extensions. Also make sure if it's a valid ped model; setting the model to a non-ped model will make the game crash (I have tried this).
- Try unloading other mods to see if one or more mods cause crashes.
- Await for a new upload (I might have already fixed it).

@undefined Sure, the game works fine with the mod in the game, but as soon I press the key that summons the girlfriend (NUM0) it hands me an "unhandled expectation" message, that is how it simply is, if that solves everything, unless there's a crash log I don't know about.

Thanks for trying my mod. I can't pinpoint exactly where to start looking, however if you can provide me some error messages or anything, that would help with coming up with a fix. But since you're using custom mods, I'm afraid there will be no guarantees (unless I gain more insights on GTA3 coding).

As for now, I don't plan on supporting custom mods (such as when you're loading from another archive via modloader) as I have no knowledge how these are made internally.

Hey, I just tried this mod, it crashes when I attempt to spawn the girlfriend, for reference, I use the mods featured in Just Gesha's GTA 3 remaster video which requires the 1.0 version, my best hypothesis is that it crashes because of the mods I use considering your images are of the original GTA 3, would it be possible to have it work with other mods like total conversions or should that be the case?
